Application of new varieties of carbon black in tire manufacturing
In recent years, researchers in the world have developed a series of new carbon black varieties to meet the needs of the development of the rubber industry through in-depth research on the formation process, microstructure, surface modification and conductive mechanism of carbon black. What these new varieties have in common is high functionality and specialization.
(1) Low rolling resistance carbon black for tires
This was developed to meet the requirements of energy saving and environmental protection for the new generation of “green tires”. This kind of carbon black has the properties of anti-slip, low rolling resistance and safe driving. Usually, these three are in conflict with each other. Generally, carbon black cannot balance these three properties at the same time. In this new type of carbon black aggregate, a small amount of silica is inlaid on the nanometer scale, so that the obtained product has both low rolling resistance of white carbon black and retains the excellent characteristics of carbon black in performance. Therefore, it is also called “duplex carbon black” and has been widely used in radial tires. In China, such special carbon blacks have not yet been available in large quantities, and they are usually replaced by new process carbon blacks that are wet granulated.
(2) High purity carbon black
This is a special type designed for high voltage cables. If there is a sieve residue with a particle size of more than 45 pm in carbon black, it will affect the insulation performance of the cable sheath.
(3) Conductive carbon black
In recent years, the development trend has been to develop new varieties with high conductivity specificity, ‘for example, it requires good dispersibility, smooth surface and shielding effect to meet the requirements of different types of batteries, supercapacitors, fuel cells and chip packaging. In the past, the use of B-black carbon was used in the past, but the addition of the amount of the rubber to affect the mechanical properties of the rubber is not ideal. In the 1990s, the new series of conductive carbon blacks for V series used in the oil furnace method was successfully used in antistatic conveyor belts, conductive rubber sticks, anti-static rubber sheets and other products.
(4) Low hysteresis carbon black
Used in radial tires, it has the advantages of low heat generation, low fuel consumption and low rolling resistance. It is used for heavy-duty tires, which can solve the shortcomings of high heat generation and slow heat dissipation, and meet the development requirements of “green tires”.
(5) New pigment carbon black
This type of carbon black pays attention to indicators such as blackness, color fastness and fluidity, and its varieties are not
Reproduction and increase to meet the characteristics of different application objects.
